Dear Loyal Fans:
Zoup!'s third-party, point-of-sale (cash register) system recently experienced a payment card security incident that affected most of our U.S. locations. According to our provider, the incident may have affected payment cards swiped at stores between February 2 and March 5, 2015. (We have been informed that card numbers entered manually or online were not affected.) The good news is we found the cause of the issue and eliminated it on March 5.
I want you to know that we take your payment card security very seriously and that I am truly sorry that you were affected by this event. I also want to assure you that we moved as swiftly as possible to address the problem once we learned about it, and that we are taking steps to provide you with information and tools to help give you the peace of mind you deserve.
Here are the steps we've initiated so far:
- Confirmed that the problematic malware installed on our point-of-sale system has been removed. It's this malware that compromised payment cards data.
- Worked with our third-party point-of-sale vendor to monitor transactions
- Opened the lines of communication regarding this incident by providing ongoing updates at www.zoup.com/customersecurity
To speak with a Zoup! team member, please call our toll-free Customer Security line, 800-343-9308, Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. ET, or you can email us at email@example.com.
I know that this incident may create a great deal of concern for many of our loyal fans. I share that concern and I assure you that in the days ahead, we will work hard to preserve your trust and to provide the outstanding Zoup! Experience you have come to expect.
